It is a splendid movie! Tom Hanks gave us another wonderful performance after Gane. This is a story that happened in the Second World War. In order to rescue a soldier named Ryan, who was trapped in area of enemy, several soldiers broke through the blockage at all hazards, and some of them sacrificed on halfway.

Is it worthy that consuming other eight soldiers’ lives only for saving a single Ryan, and only because Ryan was the possibly surviving son of a great mother who had already lost all of the other sons and was in huge grief?

In this film, Tom Hanks acts as a captain named James. He leads a lot of corporals, and commands a lot of battles. Every time when his soldiers sacrifice, he feels painful. However, in order to fetch peace, it’s deserved. He believes that one’s death would be equal to dozens of other people’s survive. What about this action? Who is Ryan? Does he deserve such military resource? Every soldier has his own mother, and every one’s death would send his mother in great grief.

However, it does not allow them to consider more, they should take this task and complete it. But with the comrades’ death one after another, the rest of them doubt the action gradually. At last they find Ryan. Fortunately, he is alive. But he can’t leave, he should stay with his comrades to defend and wait until the rescue team arrives, although he is told by James that his brothers all have been died in the last ditch.

James knows that everyone should accomplish his mission. Ryan has his own, of course. He didn’t blame him, and decide to fight for peace with Ryan’s army side-by-side.

This film reflects the respect for life. Americans, Jews, they are all Christian. As a religion, Christianism makes us believe that life is precious, and god will bless us. At the same time, religion restricts us to do wicked things. If we do, we will be condemned by our conscience.

Hitler is not a Christian, and he thought that if a person doesn’t care all the rules and belief, he would become a truly strong man. However, caring nothing only makes us become cold-blooded. What does a cold-blooded person remains besides power? None.

What about James and his comrades? In this film, we can notice that a sharp-shooter kisses his crossing every time when he shoots. He thinks that the god would inject power and fortune in his body. Ryan asked his wife whether he is a nice man at the end of this film, of course he is. He spends his whole life to realize James’ will. And what about James? He was a school teacher before he joins the army. The military life changes him a lot. He hates the changing and wants to come back to human nature, so he releases a Nazi.

Actually, James and his comrades are not only rescuing Ryan, but also fighting for peace as a part of American army. So, why we always put eight lives and one life together and discuss whether it deserves?

I’d always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn’t a second at all. it’s stretches on forever like an ocean of time. For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp watching falling star. And yellow leaves from the maple trees that lined our street. Or my grandmother’s hand and the way her skin seemed like paper. And the first time I saw my cousin Tony’s brand new Firebird. And Janie. And Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me, but it’s too hard to stay mad when there is so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I am seeing it all at once and it’s too much. My heart fills up like a balloon and it’s about to burst. And then I remember to relax and stop trying to hold on to it. And it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I’m talking about, I’m sure. But don’t worry, you will someday.
